Stanford Hospital had outgrown its facility and required significant expansion. To ensure uninterrupted patient care during this process, the design team collaborated closely with hospital and community leaders, medical professionals, staff, patients, and families. This teamwork resulted in a unique, state-of-the-art medical center that connects with the existing hospital while still prioritizing quality care. Their ambitious goals led to impressive outcomes in energy efficiency, water conservation, family support amenities, and educational programs for children. The final result is one of the most environmentally friendly, technologically advanced, and family-centered children’s medical care centers in the world.
